Care Committee
7% Progress in spiritual growth
- There is an ebb and flow to people’s involvement. For some,
just getting to church is all they can do.
26% Encourages spiritual development
- Small sharing groups.
- Progress in spiritual growth – prayer groups, prayer experiences,
etc. Fill in gaps caused by the warm fuzzy theology of Vatican II.
- Perhaps we need to look into Renew or similar program. The
importance is not so much the program but the small groups that flow
from them.
- Cornerstone Program – a lay run weekend retreat run on the church
premises.
Youth involvement in spiritual growth – perhaps a staff person.
Question young folks what they would want. Focus groups?
- Youth ministry/social service programs (keeping them involved after
Confirmation)
29% Members committed to spiritual growth
- We need to understand
the spirituality questions - Are others committed to spiritual
growth
47% Spiritual needs met
- Adoration or prayer activities - People making visits to the
church. Why are front doors locked?
Ownership Committee
17% Opinions count
- Continue outreach for people who could not make
this meeting.
- Parish Council agenda in the bulletin with clear
reminder that they are open.
- Transparence needs to be more obvious
especially to explain why choices are acted upon or not. -
- Good
thing to solicit opinions but are the opinions being acted upon. If
an idea is not acted upon we need a better explanation as to why
not.
- Suggestion box at doors
18% Recognition
- Greeters are greeting each other rather than the
church goers.
- Parishioners not always responsive to greeter’s
welcome.
- Mission statement and pictures of the various committees
on the website.
- Name tag for greeters
- Post pictures in the
Mustard Seed and on the website of new members, baptism, death, etc.
Responsibility Committee
37% Cares about me
- Need to reach out to those people who do not
feel connected
- Welcome committee. Find out what Mass they will be
attending so that they can have someone take them through the
initial steps. Perhaps a small social group after Saturday night
Mass to welcome new people. Find a way to share personal stories.
40% Mission/purpose
- Good on adults but not enough done for young
people
- New committee – growth suggestion ideas committee. Sort of
a liaison between staff, committees, and membership.
41% Learn and grow
- Too many things are not explained (book of
intention)
- More announcements by presider at the end of Mass
- Stewardship weekend – have members of committee present to explain
work of committee –perhaps two weekends
- Random selection for
activities and committees.
- Focus group on diversity
Engagement Committee
25% Best friend
- Do not know enough about members of the parish
- Have people introduce themselves occasionally at the beginning of
Mass
- Parish is widely spread out and this makes connections more
difficult to make. Perhaps smaller social groups would help.
30% Opportunity to do what do best
- Volunteering for an hour or two
for activities for specific activities, without having to join a
committee.
- Percentages of engagement to non-engagement.
- CCD
classes are rightly positioned. Could that hour be better used for
meetings or educational opportunities for parents. Perhaps committee
meetings.
42% Know what is expected
- Personal responsibility for answering
invitations to be involved.
- Percentages of engagement to
non-engagement.
